Mommainia Builders on the move

The house is moving along. I got the outside graded, seed planted, and house painted. The inside has primer on the walls, insulation, drywall, mantels, stone and trim is going in.

Taking the holidays into the frame of time to get completed, I will have to delay us moving in until the first or middle of January. I just cannot make the subs work on top of each other and be happy doing it. If I push them it is miserable for all and Christmas would be out of boxes for us. I just don't want to do that to them or me. So, I delayed to give time for the holidays and to each sub to finish before the other moves in. I will put the plumbers, electrical and HVAC together but they work together well anyway and prefer to be there all together.

Mommainia Builders still going and going and....

Going crazy is more like it. I wish I had batteries that lasted a long time. I am so tired. There has been someone on the lot every day. I have not had a day off and have worked most Saturdays and Sunday I worked four hours. When I mean worked I mean putting in insulation, sweeping floors, picking up trash and vacuuming up all the junk the contractors left behind.

Stone workStone workI have not had any issues with any contractor until now. I hired a stone guy to do the stone on the front. He does great work, don't get me wrong, but he didn't give me what I wanted therefore I will have to pay more to fix it correctly. These days we do not live in America anymore. If you hire a contractor and even put it in black and white what you want it sometimes doesn't work out in your favor. His language wasn't mine and therefore I was misunderstood about what I wanted him to do. However, if I don't pay him, he will put a lean on the house and I cannot close without going through court to prove him wrong, etc. Or. he could just get mad and do something to the house or me. He has a temper. Even though I don't agree, it is not worth the effort to battle it out. If I already lived in the house it would be a different story. What a pain. Well, they say you learn by your mistakes.

Mommannia at work but will it end....

I have been working hard to pass my last big inspection. The framing inspection with all the things that can go wrong. They inspect all your big trade rough ins like electrical, plumbing and HVAC. Well the day of inspection guess who shows up to inspect the house? The chief inspector. Oh dear, I thought. He only found two small things wrong. I needed to put a tube around the electrical lines coming out of the house to ensure that the brick did not damage it and I needed to seal up one chase. This took all of five minutes each then I called for a reinspection and passed.

Well, the project is finally under way.

Here are some pictures of the lot and clearing. We had loggers come in for a total of 8 semi-trucks full of lumber. What a mess!!! All done now and ready to dig for the basement.
