Mommainia Builders still going and going and....

Going crazy is more like it. I wish I had batteries that lasted a long time. I am so tired. There has been someone on the lot every day. I have not had a day off and have worked most Saturdays and Sunday I worked four hours. When I mean worked I mean putting in insulation, sweeping floors, picking up trash and vacuuming up all the junk the contractors left behind.

Stone workStone workI have not had any issues with any contractor until now. I hired a stone guy to do the stone on the front. He does great work, don't get me wrong, but he didn't give me what I wanted therefore I will have to pay more to fix it correctly. These days we do not live in America anymore. If you hire a contractor and even put it in black and white what you want it sometimes doesn't work out in your favor. His language wasn't mine and therefore I was misunderstood about what I wanted him to do. However, if I don't pay him, he will put a lean on the house and I cannot close without going through court to prove him wrong, etc. Or. he could just get mad and do something to the house or me. He has a temper. Even though I don't agree, it is not worth the effort to battle it out. If I already lived in the house it would be a different story. What a pain. Well, they say you learn by your mistakes.

Take a look and let me know how you like the stone. The stairs in the front is missing the last step so you will see it later. So, no that is not a really big last step in front. This was part of the mixup. We have insulation in and will start drywalling Tuesday or Wednesday. I hope you guys are all doing OK. Let me know what is up. I don't seem to have time to keep up with everyone any other way. Take care. I will be normal again soon.

really?

I think you are being selfish by assuming that you shouldn't have to pay that contractor. Those stairs look fine to me. If the dimensions being off caused the mix-up, numbers are extra-lingual... I don't see how you could have gotten that wrong. Either you didn't write them down well enough or you hired someone incapable of reading numbers. I would have a temper too if you were threatening to not pay me for hard work. But really why I registered was to say: Why wouldn't you do that yourself? Especially if you're blogging about it on a DIY home building site. That seems like a very straightforward 1-2 day project. Forgive my rudeness, I was a little put off by your whining.
