Mommannia at work but will it end....

I have been working hard to pass my last big inspection. The framing inspection with all the things that can go wrong. They inspect all your big trade rough ins like electrical, plumbing and HVAC. Well the day of inspection guess who shows up to inspect the house? The chief inspector. Oh dear, I thought. He only found two small things wrong. I needed to put a tube around the electrical lines coming out of the house to ensure that the brick did not damage it and I needed to seal up one chase. This took all of five minutes each then I called for a reinspection and passed.

We are currently bricking as you will see from the pictures and the insulation goes in next then drywall and you can guess from there. If you look at the back of the house you will notice a section in the bottom right where there is a door and some tan vinyl around it. Gee it looks like it could be a garage door but was a goof up. Well, in Coweta county if you have a garage door in the basement area that is over 6 feet wide you must enclose that area with 1/2" drywall, or spinkler system and also slope the concrete about 2" from back to front to ensure that all liquids run out of the house. They assume you will be parking a gas powered something and therefore it must meet all the same codes as the garage. Well it is just too expensive to slope the basement in only that one area and add all the other stuff. So you can just frame in your garage then put in a temporary door that looks like you decided to do something else, then when you move in after you get the CO, you just simply cut it out and put in your garage door. Sneaky, not really. The inspectors know what you are doing. If you are nice about it they just don't say anything and life goes on. Just thought I would give you all an update.

Is everyone still doing OK? Hope you all are well and getting ready for Halloween soon, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas. Wow, time is flying. I had better hurry if we are going to move in by Christmas. Our house here still has not sold. We are starting to get really worried. I am assured by my financial broker that if we do not sell it will be OK. We will not loose either house and will close on the new one. It will not be a pretty sight and we will need to get use to eating ground beef and hotdogs alot. Maybe even make the kids Christmas gifts.

My sister still has two houses to pay for and she said she would do anything for a steak dinner.
